MEDIA ADVISORY: Ryan Braun to kick off SHARP Literacy Summer Learning Gain Initiative with a rally at Neighborhood House Garden Park

WHO: Ryan Braun will kick off SHARP Literacy’s eight-week summer educational program, which will reach approximately 350 students at nine locations throughout the city of Milwaukee including:  Neighborhood House, Journey House, Our Next Generation, COA-Riverwest, Milwaukee Christian Center, Silver Spring Neighborhood Center, Neu-Life at Gwen T. Jackson, St. Joan Antida High School, and Milwaukee Summer Reading Project. 

WHAT: SHARP Literacy has partnered with Ryan Braun and Brewers Community Foundation to promote the Summer Learning Gain Initiative, a SHARP educational program that uses summer break to support academic success by helping urban school students catch up on previous learning loss and make strides toward exceeding academic expectations the following year.

At the kick-off, Braun will address approximately 120 students from three of the above-mentioned community centers, learning centers and schools about the SHARP Literacy summer program, literacy, and the importance of reading throughout the summer.  Kids will then participate in a variety of baseball-themed activities, enjoy ice cream from the Brewer Treat Truck, and meet the Brewers Famous Racing Sausages TM.
