MILWAUKEE (CBS 58) — Outdoor activities are encouraged especially when it benefits the neighborhood.
The 27th Street West Drug Free Coalition hosted a “Teens Clean Event” surrounding the community center Neighborhood House as a kickoff to their summer program on Wednesday, June 16.
The event furthers the coalition’s mission to create alcohol and drug-free communities by encouraging youth to explore more meaningful and productive ways to spend their summer.
One Milwaukee youth says Neighborhood House activities have become a family tradition.
“It makes me feel a lot better knowing that I can have a place to go to, and I can also help out with the community… give back a little bit,” said Jahkai Bohannon, participated in cleanup.
Neighborhood House’s summer program goes through August.
