Getting Serious about Money

Neighborhood House’s PREP program packed the house on two consecutive days during its December GOT MONEY? event. This national curriculum takes a serious (and fun) approach to financial education for middle-schoolers and teens.

Students from Roosevelt Middle School of the Arts, Wisconsin Conservatory of Lifelong Living, Morse Marshall Middle School, and Hi Mount participated in the event, learning financial responsibility, money management, and financial life skills.

Guest speakers included Bailey Coleman from V100 Radio;  Salon Owner and Cosmetology Instructor Megan JacksonEverett Cocroft and Kelly Winfrey from Milwaukee Brotherhood of FirefightersPatrice Downey Walker, Songstress and Spoken Word Artist; Darlene Rose, Owner of Positive Touch Massage; and Jeremy Landers, Target Executive Team Leader.

Community support from the financial sector  included Center for Self-Sufficiency, Asset Builders of America, Inc., UW Credit Union Staff, and US Bank.
