Environmental Education

Environmental Education is woven into Neighborhood House of Milwaukee’s programming for all ages. Infants, toddlers, school agers, and teens participate in a variety of in-house environmental science lessons throughout the year. As well as having the opportunity to explore nature through hands-on activities in our on site garden beds and at our 93-acre Nature Center in Dodge County. Activities include experiential science-based learning with an emphasis on developing critical thinking and a sense of stewardship for the environment.

See our Calendar for FREE Family Adventures –  monthly outings with our environmental educators!

Environmental Programming in Schools Our educators can provide hands-on environmental education experiences for your classroom or school group. Whether that be in your own classroom, at our science lab in Neighborhood House, or by visiting our nature center on a field trip, we’d love to work with you! Browse our Community Education booklet to see what programs are offered and for further details.

Maple Sugaring at our Nature Center in Spring During the month of March, drill, tap, collect sap, and learn how it’s boiled down to create maple syrup in our brand new Sugar Shack! Learn about traditional maple sugaring methods as well as how it’s done in modern day and age. Join one of our annual outings or schedule an outing for your school or group.

Come Grow With Us at Our 27th St. Garden Park Between the months of May and September we offer garden bed plot rental at our Neighborhood House Garden Park, located on the corner of 27th street and Richardson Place.
