Dear Friends of Neighborhood House of Milwaukee,

I hope this note finds you doing well.

Your support has always been integral to the execution of our mission. Because of you, we are able to provide year-round, high-quality programming to hundreds of children, adults and families.

Our ability to carry out our mission in the months and years ahead may be at risk due to a rapidly changing federal policy and funding environment. There are federal proposals being debated that could significantly reduce or eliminate key funding streams that Neighborhood House of Milwaukee relies on. Programs such as Early Head Start and Refugee Assistance Grants, if reduced or eliminated, would significantly impact our operation. Currently, about 25 percent of our agency budget comes from federal sources, so we are taking several steps to ensure that our top-notch programming continues.

Here is how we are responding:

  • Expanding Private Fundraising Efforts – We are expanding our outreach to private foundations, corporations and individual donors through a variety of methods.

  • Reducing Costs – We review our programs and budgets regularly to ensure we are getting the most out of every grant and donation we receive. We also regularly review our vendor contracts and operational methods to look for every opportunity to cut costs.

  • Advocating for Public Investment – We believe that our state and federal governments should make big investments in the programs that we implement every day. Investing in early childhood education, after school care for youth and adult literacy is a cost-effective use of public dollars that build healthier and stronger communities.

Here is how you can help:

Follow us on social media or share/like our social media posts. Tell a friend about Neighborhood House. Sponsor one of our fundraising events. Organize a group of volunteers to support our programming or assist us with building and grounds projects.

Your contributions are more important than ever. Whether you donate money or time, you are critical to helping us navigate our challenges and provide important services.

We look forward to your support and working with you in the challenging weeks and months ahead. Please call or email me with questions or ideas on how we can collaborate to accomplish our shared goals.

Thank you very much for your support,

Jon Janowski
